About Outward Bound

Catholic College Bendigo’s Year 9 Outward Bound program has been running for the past 30 years and is a treasured tradition for our students. Our College has one of the longest-running partnerships with Outward Bound and the experience is a highlight of Year 9 for many students. This year, at the beginning of Term 4, the program returns to the Grampians National Park. After years of drought we can finally return to our original venue and enjoy the spectacular setting of the Great Australian Divide.

The Outward Bound experience is run by our College in collaboration with Outward Bound Australia for all Year 9 students. The program provides a challenging adventure activities experience, which enables students to discover more about themselves and their relationships with others. They gain new insights into individual abilities and weaknesses, thus discovering more about their potential. Students develop self-reliance, resourcefulness and determination to succeed and raise self-motivation and personal standards of achievement.

Outward Bound has become a highly-valued part of the Year 9 curriculum because of the high success rate in achieving its stated aims. Activities include orienteering, abseiling, rock climbing, bush walking, challenge activities, bush cooking and high and low rope courses.
