Catholic College Bendigo has two libraries, the La Valla Library for Years 7-9 and the Coolock Library for Years 10-12.

The Libraries offer a wide range of resources which support the curriculum. Teacher-librarians, as information specialists, offer a variety of services to assist students with their learning. The Catalogue is available 24/7 via Access-it Library. This enables students and staff to locate print and electronic resources such as e-books, pdf files and video files.

Teacher-librarians team teach with subject teachers, the emphasis being the development of information and research skills. Students are shown how to improve their research skills through strategies, web-searching hints, bibliographies and referencing procedures for their assignments and projects. One on one study skills sessions are also available to students.

Information literacy is a high priority and the teacher-librarians work with the teaching staff to develop Libguides which are designed to develop a student’s information literacy skills, model efficient research behaviours and thinking skills when working through assignments. They also guide students through a variety of online and non-print resources appropriate to their class work.
