STAFFING

On behalf of Catholic College Bendigo and Mercy Education Limited, we are delighted to announce the successful applicants for the following positions.

These candidates were approved by the Directors of Mercy Education Limited on the recommendation of the various panels who conducted the interviews.

We were very fortunate to have so many experienced and well qualified leaders who applied for the various positions and we thank each of them for their efforts and contribution.

The successful applicant for the Deputy Principal position is Mr Benjamin Fitzpatrick commencing Term One, 2018.

The successful applicant for the Business Manager position is Mrs Catherine Gaskell commencing Term Four, 2017.

Both candidates are graduates of Catholic College Bendigo and have a long association with the College and local community.

Mr Ben Fitzpatrick was a College Captain in 1999. He has been a Deputy at Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga for the past two years and was a member of the leadership team at St Joseph’s College, Echuca for many years.

St. Joseph’s is a Brigidine school under Kildare governance, and although they do not have formal Deputy Principal roles Ben was acknowledged as the senior leader and Acting Principal when required.

Ben has a Masters in Leadership and a wealth of experience across all aspects of College administration, development projects and leadership, and importantly he is highly regarded for his pedagogy and has taught across and led a range of Domains.

Ben will be here at some point in Term Four to meet the staff and start preparing for 2018.

Mrs Cathy Gaskell is a Certified Practicing Accountant and has extensive experience as an auditor in the education and non-for-profit sector.

Cathy has worked at Amicus as the Business Manager in a Senior Executive position overseeing a large staff and leading the finance and strategic direction of the business.

Amicus do amazing work for those with disabilities and Cathy is highly regarded for her compassion and professionalism. Cathy has an excellent understanding of the NDIS and has been pivotal in Amicus’ growth and development.

Cathy has been a Director of non-for-profit organisations and has a clear understanding of corporate structures and administrative process.

We welcome both Ben and Cathy and their families into our community and look forward to their service long into the future.

On the appointment of these positions the College will now advertise, both internally and externally, the other leadership positions for La Valla and Coolock.

In 2018, there will be a Learning and Teaching Director and Pastoral Care Director at each location. These Positions of Leadership (or POL6 positions) will be under the guidance of the campus Deputy Principal.

In the coming weeks the College will also advertise for various Head of House roles and the Religious Education Coordinator position.

The College is delighted to announce that there are no forced redundancies for our staffing in 2018.

There are some staff who have applied for a voluntary redundancy and those negotiations are being finalised in the coming weeks.

This situation was always going to eventuate as part of the transition with the introduction of Marist College Bendigo.

SUCCESS

As we move towards the end of term various school sports and academic competitions are reaching the finals stage and once again our students have been outstanding in reaching finals across a range of sports.

A special mention to the Year 8 Girls netball team that won the state championship.

BUILDINGS

You may have noticed the development underway at La Valla. We look forward to working with Walsh and O’Meara, the contractor on the site.

Walsh and O’Meara have worked with the College in the past, recently completing McAuley Square at La Valla.

CATHERINE MCAULEY COLLEGE UNIFORM

A brochure with photos, descriptions and cost will be available early next term. However, specific details about the transition period and other information will be available by the end of this term.

A generic uniform (samples) will be available from the start of the holidays at Bolton’s in Mitchell Street. This will allow families the opportunity to try-on for sizing and to order for next year.

The new uniform will also be on display at Bolton’s.
